Precise Media Group

Precise Media Group
Precise Media is the UK's leading high-speed media monitoring agency. They deliver high quality service to over 2,000 clients and remain at the forefront of technical innovation.

In January 2006 they merged four sites into Royal Mint Court where they now have 320 staff.

In an average month Precise uses nearly 10,000 reams of copier paper and makes over 4 million photocopies. They subscribe to over 10,000 media sources they receive in over 100 post sacks per week. Effective management of this vast flow of paper is vital for the success of Precise and they rely on a recycling partner that can ensure reliable and flexible collection.

Paper Round makes daily collections of about 50-60 sacks at a time. Andy Middleton, Facilities Manager has always had a good working relationship with Paper Round's operation team as he often contacts them for early collections or recycling queries.

Precise Media is a paper-intensive business but according to Precise Media Managing Director Kier Fawcus, "Year on year, our recycling has increased substantially showing that not only are we expanding as a business but also internally the positive awareness for recycling has grown. Our successful recycling scheme plays a major role in reducing Precise Media's impact on the environment. We are happy with the service we receive and have total confidence in Paper Round as a partner for our business planning".

Dalkia (Ofcom)

Precise Media Group
Facilities management company Dalkia provides a range of services and also helps companies operate in a more environmentally sustainable way.

Dalkia joined Paper Round in 2005 when its client, Ofcom, needed a reliable recycling and secure shredding provider.

Ofcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries. Much of its communication is highly sensitive and so they need a strict policy on confidential waste destruction to avoid sensitive material getting into the wrong hands.

Ofcom’s confidential waste is collected in tamper-proof bags and lockable bins. Paper Round makes collections on a weekly basis. Vehicles are equipped with satellite tracking systems to ensure their safe delivery at the secure shredding site. Ofcom then receives monthly certificates of destruction confirming the secure shredding of all the materials collected.

In 2007 Paper Round collected almost 20, 000 kilos of confidential waste from Ofcom. With such high volumes, facilities manager Sue Lee said, 'It is essential to have a clear policy for staff in place and a reliable service provider for our complete peace of mind. Helping our clients operate in a more environmentally friendly way is also a top priority for us. We use Paper Round because we know the paper is being recycled once it has been shredded and so helps to reduce Ofcom’s carbon footprint.''

Electrosonic

Electrosonic
Electrosonic is an audio-visual company with a worldwide presence, that operates as a systems integrator, a product manufacturer and a provider of AV facilities management and contract servicing.

Their Dartford operation has 200 staff and houses the main product development facility.

Electrosonic was eager to dramatically reduce its impact on the environment and so needed a company that could offer a complete service to collect its waste paper, plastic cups and bottles, cans, cardboard and IT equipment.

Paper Round services bins around the office, so Electrosonic did not need to worry about emptying the bins, moving heavy sacks or about buying sacks. Cardboard and plastics are collected in bales. Electrosonic have also close the recycling loop by buying recycled stationery, made partly from the paper that they recycled.

Since joining Paper Round, Electrosonic have managed to significantly reduce their impact on the environment. They have increased the amount they recycled from 1,136 kilos in April - June 2007 to 6,786 kilos in April - June 2008, ensuring that their waste is converted into valuable resources.

According to Electrosonic Environment Manager Robert Webb, "Paper Round was selected based on their core principles being simple, reliable and ethical. Their innovative support has helped Electrosonic in waste management leading to improved efficiency and reducing costs.

Our next stage in our waste management strategy is to work with Paper Round on their concept of Zero to Landfill."
