Why do I have to pay for recycling?

Local authorities only provide free recycling services to householders. Businesses must pay for their recycling like any other service. You will already be paying to throw your waste away, if not directly then through your cleaning company or service charge.

Businesses may well save money by recycling rather than throwing away their waste. Most office waste is predominantly paper, once this is being recycled the amount going into the bins decreases dramatically.

When comparing Paper Round's prices to a waste disposal company please remember that our sacks hold 20kg of paper, three times as much as a normal plastic bin liner.

When do Paper Round make collections?

Paper Round collections are made Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. However, the majority of collections are made between 10am and 4pm.

Out of hours collections in the early morning or on Saturdays are available by special arrangement.

Where is my recycling collected from?

Wherever you want it to be! Your basement, stationery cupboard, back of the office, behind the desk, anywhere you can store your sacks.

We undertsand that you don't want to leave your paperwork on the street and you don't want to move heavy sacks. Paper Round will collect from any storage point that you nominate - even first floors or basements with no lifts!

How many recycling bins will I need?

Recycling bins help keep your office looking neat and remind your staff to recycle. They need to be conveniently placed so that recycling paper is as easy as throwing it in the waste bin.

We generally recommend one Slim Jim or cardboard Big Bin for every 10 people. Please check our Recycling Bins page for details.

The number of bins you have can always be changed; you can return bins for a full refund within 3 months or order more bins as the need arises.

How big are Paper Round’s recycling sacks?

Paper Round recycling sacks are made from tough, woven polypropylene. They measure 95cm x 76cm when flat and can hold up to 20kgs of paper.

Why do I need 6 sacks for a collection?

If you are a Pay as you Go client you do not need a minimum amount of sacks for a collection, we will come for just one. Please remember that every collection has an environmental cost associated with driving trucks around London. The closer to 6 sacks you have, the more environmentally friendly your paper recycling will be.

If you are a Member you do need to have 6 sacks for a collection, this enables us to keep your collection costs down. Our truck emissions are also greatly reduced, meaning our recycling scheme is as environmentally friendly as possible!

If you don't have room to store 6 sacks in your office, you can still be a Member by paying the Low Amount Upgrade.

Call us to discuss your requirements and we will recommend what's best for you.

Do I need to remove staples or paperclips from my paper?

No. Staples and paperclips are absolutely fine as they are easily removed during the recycling process.

Do I need to remove the windows from my envelopes?

No. Windows are fine in envelopes and do not need to be removed. Window and non window envelopes can all be recycled in our mixed paper bags

Can I recycle shredded paper?

Yes. Paper Round can recycle paper that you have shredded yourself. The paper can be either white or mixed and can be in our sacks or your own. We make a charge of £1 per sack.

Paper Round sells the waste paper that it collects to the recycling mills, enabling us to subsidise our collections. A sack of shredded paper is very light, has no resale value and fills the truck up. We therefore have to make a charge for its collection.

Sacks of shredded paper should be left with your other recycling. If the collection is just of shredded paper we have a minimum collection charge of £12.

How do I pay?

Paper Round sends out invoices for all payments, to be paid in thirty days. Payments can be made by cheque or BACS. We do not currently accept credit cards outside the Paper Round Online Shop where we sell recycled stationery and recycling bins and storage.

How do I find out how much I have recycled this year?

Keeping track of how much you have recycled helps remind your staff that their recycling efforts are actually achieving something - every 3 sacks of white paper we collect from you saves a tree!

You will be sent an annual Certificate of Achievement as part of your Paper Round membership package. Your certificate tells you how much we have collected from you as well as how many trees and how much energy you have saved. You can also purchase a quarterly recycling report to track your complete recycling achievements. These cost just £10 each.
