Get ready for #RecycleWeek
Thursday 16th September 2021
This year's Recycle Week is running 20th - 26th September. Our agenda to mark the occasion is truly action packed - so let’s get involved and ‘Step it up’!
What is Recycle Week?
'Recycle Week is Recycle Now's flagship annual event which is a celebration of recycling across the nation. Now in its 18th year, it’s the one week of the year where retailers, brands, waste management companies, trade associations, governments and the media come together to achieve one goal: to galvanise the public into recycling more of the right things, more often.' WRAP
What is special about this year?
This year the focus is on the climate crisis. Over the last couple of years, the stark warnings have been unavoidable. The IPCC report (read this blog for the main IPCC takeaways) that was published earlier this year cemented climate change fears and facts that no one can dispute or ignore. Recycle Week is calling on all of us to act with small, but influential habits – like recycling.
We need to do more. We need to do it now. And we need to do it together. Let’s ‘Step it up’ this #RecycleWeek!
Our Recycle Week schedule
This year, we’re using our expertise as a waste management and recycling company to curate an exciting, informative week of virtual engagement to give you all the tools and tricks of the trade. Check out our schedule below which details what taking place each day.
Monday 20th – Recycling 101
Whether you’re a novice, or an experienced recycler, taking stock and checking the basics is an important first step when returning to the workplace. We’ll be going through all the basics from bin set up, to signage and colour schemes.
Tuesday 21st | 10am – Don’t ‘waste’ the net zero opportunity
Tune into our webinar! Beyond net zero: don’t ‘waste’ the opportunity promises to be an engaging session. You’ll come away knowing more about the climate crisis, the role recycling plays in achieving net zero, and what you can do right now to make a difference.
Wednesday 22nd – Engage for success
Learn about powerful tools to improve your staff engagement – after all, they are the main users of your recycling scheme so it’s important they know what to recycle and the benefits to people and the planet.
Thursday 23rd – ‘Sack’ off wish-cycling
We’ve all been guilty of wish-cycling; putting an item in a bin in the hope it will get recycled. Keep your eyes on our social feeds for some of our most found contaminants and where they should go instead.
Friday 24th – It’s not all about the bin!
Reliable sourcing of products is just as important as what you’re putting in the bin. We’ll show how what you purchase can affect your carbon emissions, and what low carbon alternatives are out there to help you become an environmental champion.
The guaranteed highlight of the week will be our Dont ‘waste’ the net zero opportunity webinar. We will be joined by a guest speaker from Friends of the Earth, who will give you an overview of the climate crisis and the latest IPCC report findings. We will also be discussing the role that waste and recycling plays in every net zero plan – not one to miss!
