Single-use, the word of 2018. A term synonymous with plastics, another word which doesn’t seem to stay out of the news for very long these last few years. We’ve seen revelation after revelation about the impact that our use of plastic is having on the planet, and some rather hard-to-take news stories revealing that UK mixed plastic recycling if often shipped overseas and not getting recycled at all.

At last it seems the UK Government is starting to take plastic pollution seriously. In December 2018, they announced plans to ban single-use plastics such as straws, cotton buds and stirrers. But is this strategy too little, too late?
